The latest news to come out on the PS Portal cloud streaming beta hints that the catalogue of new games coming to the beta is growing at a fast rate.
One of the latest observations on the PlayStation Portal cloud streaming feature currently in beta is whether this feature will be successful with players. When system software update 4.0.0 was announced, Sony said that only select PS5 games from the PS Plus Premium catalogue would be available to stream. But beta testers are now reporting that the list of games available is growing at an impressive speed. This could lead to a resurgence for those still on the fence of getting a PS Portal Remote Player.
The PS Portal cloud streaming feature is something players have been waiting for since the announcements and launch of the PS Portal. This feature would ultimately eliminate the need to use a PS5 with a PS Plus Premium membership. Many criticized the PS Portal’s lack of direct streaming at launch, but have since praised the feature’s smooth rollout even in beta.
Now, there are beta testers reporting that new games have been added to the cloud streaming list pretty much every week. One player has even made a Reddit thread documenting all the streamable games. Big titles have made the list, like The Last of Us Part I, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Resident Evil 2 & 3, Monster Hunter Rise among 200 other titles. Unfortunately, streaming any PS4 and PS3 titles is still unsupported at this moment.
For those looking to take advantage of PS Portal cloud streaming, access the consoles quick menu and choose the Settings option. From there, select the Cloud Streaming (Beta) button and then enable Switch the Cloud Streaming (Beta). After you have enabled Cloud Streaming (Beta) in the settings menu, you should see a new option on the Home screen of your PS Portal that allows you to access games via cloud streaming. The beta option can be turned off at any time, and your Home screen will revert to the standard version once the option is turned off.
So far, Sony has not released a statement on when PS Portal cloud streaming will exit beta and become widely available. Unfortunately, the feature in general remains inaccessible in a large number of countries, including Australia and India.
Cloud streaming is currently available in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
