The Miyoo Flip Is Real, On Sale Now, And Ships Out In 2025

The Miyoo Flip is listed on Amazon and AliExpress for pre-order, as it officially releases on January 5th, 2025.

With many leaks of the Miyoo Flip from October 2023, the wait is over. Last week, a pre-order listing on Amazon revealed the Miyoo Flip was available with a starting price of $89.99 USD. The listing also showed it will be released on January 5th, 2025. If you missed out on the initial Amazon pre-orders, AliExpress just put out a new listing on their site. This GameBoy Advance SP rival is expected to be a must-buy for retro gamers.

If you have not heard of the Miyoo Flip, this is what it is. It is a clamshell device that looks like the Game Boy Advance SP but has enough power to emulate most consoles up to the Nintendo 64 and Dreamcast. It may even run a few Gamecube games too, thanks to the 1.8Ghz Quad-Core Cortex-A55 CPU. It sleeps and wakes upon opening, features two joysticks, a vibration motor, a 3.5″ 640 x 480 display and a 3000MAH battery pack. If it is a similar chip to the RK3566, it should also have 1GB of RAM, along with both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi built-in.

While it may not be supremely powerful for a handheld, it will still get the job done. It can also connect directly to your HD TV via the HDMI out, and can connect to wireless controllers to be used as a portable home console. There are four different colors to choose from, which include Black, Gray, White, and Yellow. Both the Black and Gray colorways provide a touch of nostalgia as the former features Red X+Y buttons, while we see two different purple tones on the ABXY buttons with the latter.

This clamshell device is also rivalling the ANBERNIC RG35XXSP, which was a major contender earlier this year. The $65 dollar price tag also made its worth for the quality build. The main difference is the Miyoo Flip figured out the joystick problem. According to Miyoo, those who pre-order will receive their units between January 5th and January 12th, and via their X account they even stated that “we will also release batches faster than in previous occasions.” This statement was probably made to ensure consumers their supply is fairly good, following Miyoo Mini’s and Mini Plus supplies being flakey at launch.

For those looking at grabbing a pre-order on the AliExpress store, it should be out now. The official posting went live on December 30th, 4:00 pm Beijing Time. Here is a list of times in other timezones:

  • UTC (Coordinated Universal Time): 8:00 AM
  • EST (Eastern Standard Time, UTC-5): 11:00 PM (29th December)
  • CST (Central Standard Time, UTC-6): 10:00 PM (29th December)
  • PST (Pacific Standard Time, UTC-8): 8:00 PM (29th December)
  • GMT (Greenwich Mean Time): 8:00 AM
  • IST (Indian Standard Time, UTC+5:30): 6:30 PM
  • AEDT (Australian Eastern Daylight Time, UTC+11): 7:00 PM

The more I look into the Miyoo Flip, the more nostalgic I get about busting out my GameBoy Advance SP. But why be limited to just GameBoy games? The Miyoo Flip should be able to run classic games like Sonic Adventure or Soulcalibur. I have been itching to play Sonic Adventure 2 since the release of the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie. There are so many great games on Nintendo 64, Dreamcast and Gamecube, so this has me stoked to revisit my childhood.
