Yesterday, Netflix dropped the official poster for Arcane season 2 as more details will be revealed at this year’s Annecy Festival next week.
The art and craft of animation has only grown more and more in the past few decades, where more artists are pushing the boundaries for audiences to enjoy. One in particular that had some recent success was the Arcane series on Netflix. The streamer dropped the official visual poster for the upcoming second season coming out in November later this year. While it does not give much away for the story to come, it does set the tone. This was a great tease as this year’s Annecy Festival will be spotlighting season 2 at the event where there will most likely be more details dropped then.
The visual was created by a fan/artist viollynt who put a special piece together a special visual in honor of Arcane season 2. The reason fans have already been buzzing about this new visual is because it is a reversal of last season’s key visual where Vi was holding a young, frightened Jinx. This accurately depicts the evolution of the iconic League of Legends sisters’ relationships from where we left them back in season 1. The caption also read “Nothing ever stays dead”, a very ominous tease indeed.
There have been many fan theories spreading across the internet and Arcane Reddit threads since the trailer dropped earlier this year—some of them I can see some as possibilities. I think the easiest one is how we will see Vander become Warwick (a staple Champion from League of Legends). What kind of trouble he will cause to Zaun/Piltover, I am unsure of. We will probably see Vi become an enforcer with Caitlyn here, as it was kind of teased from the first season and it is part of Vi’s backstory in the game.
An interesting theory was that we will get introduced to Orianna who is the daughter of Singed (a potential change to League of Legends lore). It makes sense that he is willing to do anything to keep his daughter alive. Another likely story thread to be expanded in the upcoming season is the declaration of war from Noxus on Piltover/Zaun. Last season almost spelled a war between Piltover and Zaun, but the Noxus tease is hard to ignore as well.
As for the other characters, I am not sure where I would like to see Heimerdinger and Ekko go. I could see the tensions rise between Viktor and Jayce even further, but there is just so much lore Arcane can work with and so much they could change.
I am excited for more details but ultimately, I cannot wait for November to come when Arcane season 2 is expected to be released. I am sure they will probably release it in parts or “acts” like they did last time. Rising star from Prime Video’s Fallout Ella Purnell (who voices Jinx) already teased that season 2’s finale will be “devastating” when she spoke at a press junket in April with TechRadar. If it is more heart wrenching than last season, oh boy, I do not know if I can take it!
