Warframe developer Digital Extremes recently hosted their devstream, highlighting things to come for Warframe, Soulframe and TennoCon 2025.
Right before last weekend, Warframe developer Digital Extremes held their devstream, presenting a big slate of updates coming to their games and upcoming dedicated convention. In their devstream, they shared more details on Warframe 1999’s follow-up update Techrot Encore dropping in March. Following this devstream, Soulframe had its own spotlight, offering a glimpse at what 2025 has in store for Preludes (Pre-Alpha Test) players. This year also marks the tenth year of TennoCon, taking place on July 18-19th, 2025. Tickets will be on sale later this week on February 7th at 2:00 PM ET.
Beginning with the game that put Digital Extremes on the map, Warframe: 1999’s Techrot Encore is the highly anticipated update welcoming the next entry in the Lich adversary system. In addition to that, it will continue to focus on the musically charged encounters with the hit boyband On-lyne, the Technocyte Coda. Players will be rewarded with one of 13 new Infested weapons with these encounters. The 90s-era boy band theme carries over into cosmetics, too, with a new collection of hairstyles and new Scaldra-themed cosmetic gear for the Drifter.
In preparation of the release of Techrot Encore in March, new content will begin rolling out on Thursday, February 6th. This includes the revitalized Rhino in the fourth addition to the Heirloom cosmetic skin line available in the Warframe Market. For a limited time, players can return to Ascension in the revival of the Clan Operation: Belly of the Beast. This will begin on February 6 at 2:00 PM ET through March 3rd. To build up to the 90s themes of Techrot Encore, Nightwave Vol. 8 offers fresh gear collection rewards for those who take on the daily and weekly challenges.
Moving on to next week, Lavos Prime is dropping on Wednesday, February 12th. This is the first Prime Warframe of 2025 with two new Prime weapons, making it just in time to celebrate the Year of the Snake! The update expanded on Lavos: “Lavos, the transmuter, aims to revive the alchemical warfare of an ancient empire. Acting as a jailer to a rogue Orokin alchemist on Venus, Lavos grew close to the prisoner and eventually became his pupil. Consume enemies with serpent whips, skate through enemies on a frozen trail, launch transmutation probes to transform pickups into universal items, and catalyze combatants with gallons of fiery gel.”
On the other side of Digital Extremes’ slate, Soulframe’s devstream included new features and content for Preludes players, hinting at what is to come later 2025. One of the things Preludes players can do now is to rescue the wolf companion, Orengall, and her pups in the latest Fable (story quest), The Shewolf Snared. They hinted that players will soon be able to commit to one of three Factions when your Envoy begins their journey—tying into a new procedural mini-quest system later on in Soulframe’s gameplay progression.
Here is a list of some of the other additions making its way to Soulframe:
- Meet the latest Ancestors, Atajan, heralded as the founder of the Order of the Gyres and Pothia, dubbed the Battle Mother.
- Explore the newest environment Neath’uns filled with mystery and corruption.
- Uncover the knowledge of a forgotten weapon type, Voltaic Casters.
- Explore further into the island of Midrath as the world map starts to expand for current Preludes players offering new lands to connect with in the next update.
And last but not least, Digital Extremes left off on their community update with TennoCon 2025 details. Tickets will be available in three tiers with different benefits and merch packs for each. Information on TennoCon Digital Packs will be available soon. Across the two days of the show, Warframe fans can look forward to autograph signings, a cosplay contest, dev team panels, new announcements around Soulframe, a brand new activity dubbed the “TennoConcert” in Southwestern Ontario’s biggest arena, Canada Life Place, as well as the main event: the TennoLive keynote presentation.
